Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra world’s lightest 70cl whisky bottle

In a bold move that merges luxury with innovation, Johnnie Walker has launched its latest masterpiece – Blue Label Ultra, the world’s lightest Scotch whisky glass bottle. This limited-edition release isn’t just a new bottle; it’s a symbol of the brand’s forward-thinking approach to premium spirits and sustainable design.

A Record-Breaking Innovation in Whisky Packaging

Weighing just 180 grams, the Blue Label Ultra bottle sets a new industry benchmark as the lightest 70cl Scotch whisky bottle ever created. Developed over a five-year journey by Diageo’s design team, the bottle uses a newly patented glass technology that delivers strength, sustainability, and elegance in one ultra-light frame.

Diageo’s commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop at innovation—the company is making its patent available to the world on a royalty-free, open-source basis, encouraging other brands and creators to contribute to the evolution of sustainable packaging.

An Exceptional Blend by Master Blender Emma Walker

Inside this groundbreaking bottle is a whisky blend curated by Master Blender Emma Walker. The expression includes rare whiskies from legendary distilleries such as Oban, Brora, and Royal Lochnagar, along with select ‘ghost whiskies’ from closed distilleries. The result is a complex and refined flavor profile marked by fresh red berries, sweet vanilla, toffee, wood spice, and warming wood smoke.

This limited release is not only a tribute to Johnnie Walker’s heritage but a nod to its modern craftsmanship and vision.

Celebrating Design with Global Artists

To further celebrate this milestone, Johnnie Walker has partnered with some of the world’s most innovative designers and artists. Collaborators include Amber Cowan, Objects of Common Interest, and Scott Newlin, each known for their distinctive styles and creative use of materials. In collaboration with the Corning Museum of Glass, these artists have created exclusive works inspired by the technology behind the Blue Label Ultra bottle.

These one-of-a-kind pieces will be showcased during NYCxDesign at the prestigious Cristina Grajales Gallery, offering the public a glimpse into how whisky and art can blend seamlessly in the modern age.
