Karan Tacker’s Goonda agave spirits 750ml bottle launched in India

Actor-entrepreneur Karan Tacker’s premium agave spirits brand, Goonda, has taken a decisive step toward national scale with the launch of its 750 ml bottle format, strengthening its positioning in India’s fast-evolving premium spirits market.

The move marks a shift from niche experimentation to serious category-building, targeting both on-premise (bars, hotels) and off-premise (retail) channels. The larger format retains Goonda’s bold visual identity while offering better visibility, improved shelf presence, and stronger value perception for consumers.

Strong Early Numbers, Aggressive Scale-Up Plans

Since its debut earlier this year, Goonda has already sold over 30,000 bottles across Maharashtra and Goa, two of India’s most competitive alcohol markets. The brand is now gearing up for aggressive expansion during FY 2026–27, indicating confidence in demand for agave-based spirits beyond traditional tequila markets.

Betting Big on Indian Agave

Speaking on the brand’s long-term ambition, the founders emphasised that Goonda is not chasing trends—it is building an ecosystem.

“We want India to be recognised as a serious agave-producing region, not just an emerging curiosity. The 750 ml launch is a step toward placing Indian agave confidently on global shelves.”

This statement reflects a larger industry shift, as Indian distillers explore non-grain, non-molasses spirits amid rising consumer demand for premium, differentiated products.

Co-founder Ashish Jasuja highlighted Goonda’s broader play in the agave space:

“Most brands stop at Silver and Reposado. We went further by introducing flavoured 100% agave spirits, expanding how agave can be consumed—shots, cocktails, or sipping over ice.”

This diversification positions Goonda beyond a single-use spirit, appealing to younger consumers, cocktail culture, and experiential drinking occasions.
