Bottle of Soorahi premium Indian whisky launched by Uppal Brewers & Distillers in Odisha as part of the brand’s national market expansion.

Premium Indian whisky brand Soorahi continues its expansion journey with a strategic entry into Odisha, strengthening its footprint in India’s fast-growing premium spirits market.

A Strategic Expansion into Eastern India

Uppal Brewers & Distillers (UBD) has officially launched its premium whisky brand Soorahi in Odisha, marking another step in the company’s aggressive expansion strategy for 2026.

The move comes soon after the brand’s rollout in Daman and Diu earlier this year, a key cross-border retail hub known for strong liquor sales driven by tourism and corporate travel.

By entering Odisha, UBD aims to place Soorahi among global whisky labels in a market where consumers are increasingly exploring premium and craft spirits.

“A Brand That Has Proven Its Mettle”

According to Ankur Sachdeva, Co-Founder and CEO of UBD, the company sees strong potential in the region.

He noted that Soorahi has already sold several lakh units across competitive Indian markets, reflecting growing consumer trust in the brand’s craftsmanship and flavour profile.

Sachdeva also highlighted that Odisha’s consumers are becoming more discerning, appreciating whiskies that offer depth, balance, and character. The whisky’s flavour profile, he added, pairs naturally with the bold and spice-forward coastal cuisine popular in the region.

Ambition to Enter 6–8 States in 2026

Co-Founder Kanhav Uppal said the strong market response has encouraged the company to scale further.

UBD now plans to expand Soorahi into six to eight additional Indian states by the end of 2026, strengthening its “Proudly Indian” positioning in the premium blended whisky segment.

Availability Across Key Cities

The brand will initially be available at premium retail stores and select on-trade locations across major urban centres such as:

  • Bhubaneswar
  • Berhampur
  • Cuttack

These cities are considered important consumption hubs with a growing base of premium spirits consumers.

Strong Debut Performance in India
