A Craft Beer Meets Craft Chocolate Innovation
In a unique crossover between brewing and chocolate-making, Maka Di, the craft beer brand from Goa-based Latambarcem Brewers, has partnered with bean-to-bar chocolatier BAR (Baker’s Artisanal Recipes) to unveil THE BUZZZ..ED BAR — India’s first beer-fermented craft chocolate.
The collaboration brings together two thriving craft industries, creating a product that pushes the boundaries of flavour innovation.
Fermented with Honey Ale, Not Flavoured with Beer
What makes THE BUZZZ..ED BAR stand out is its fermentation process. Premium single-origin cacao from Mangalore is fermented using Maka Di’s signature Honey Ale, allowing the beer to naturally influence the cacao’s flavour development.
Unlike beer-infused chocolates, no beer is added to the final product. During the drying stage, the alcohol evaporates completely, leaving behind a 0% alcohol chocolate layered with subtle honeyed, floral and malty notes.
Award-Winning Debut
The chocolate made its debut at the Indian Cacao and Craft Chocolate Festival in Bengaluru and has already gained international recognition, securing a Bronze Medal at the International Chocolate Awards – India Region 2026.
Crafted with 60% dark chocolate and topped with roasted cacao nibs, THE BUZZZ..ED BAR delivers rich cocoa intensity, gentle honey sweetness and a satisfying crunch.
Celebrating India’s Craft Movement
According to Ishan Varshnei, CEO of Latambarcem Brewers, the collaboration demonstrates how brewing expertise can unlock new possibilities beyond beer while encouraging innovation across India’s craft ecosystem.
Dhayvat Udeshi, Founder of BAR, highlighted that the project showcases the potential of Indian-grown cacao and proves that homegrown craftsmanship and creativity can earn global recognition.
A New Chapter for Craft Collaboration
As craft consumers continue to seek unique experiences, THE BUZZZ..ED BAR represents more than just a chocolate launch—it is a celebration of experimentation, collaboration and the growing sophistication of India’s craft beverage and gourmet food sectors.
With this groundbreaking creation, Maka Di and BAR have delivered a product that blurs the lines between brewing and chocolate-making, setting a fresh benchmark for innovation in the Indian craft industry.
